Why Ross Lost

Ross lost the first season of Celebrity Big Brother USA.  Marissa didn’t win because of her game, she won because Ross played a very flawed, very messy game. Ross will never admit this and he’ll continue to pretend that all of America loves him.

When the first episode of CBBUS came on we saw a conversation with the girls alliance plus Ross, in which Omarosa basically said to Ross’s face that when it came down to the alliance, Ross would be first the out, since he was a guy. Ross took great offense to this.

Cue to Ross/Shannon/Marissa having a conversation in which Shannon tells him she gets why he’s upset because it makes him look like he’s expendable within the alliance. Shannon goes to Omarosa and goes to bat for Ross. To the detriment of her own game might I add. Omarosa gets offended and basically tells Shannon that she’s being shady.  This is where the Shannon/Omarosa crumbling alliance begins.

Cue to first night of feeds when Shannon is upset and telling Ross/Marissa she felt very attacked in that conversation. (A conversation in which neither Ross nor Marissa stood up for her either).  At this point, Ross/Marissa/Shannon reiterate that they’re together and solid.

Omarosa/Keshia have a conversation in the backyard where they solidify their F2 and Keshia tells Omarosa she has Chuck on their side because they’re saving him. Brandi notices this and tells Shannon Omarosa and Keshia are talking in the backyard.

Brandi also witnesses Keshia/Chuck having a long conversation and accurately figures out that they are making a deal. She tells the alliance this. Omarosa gets mad at Brandi for questioning Keshia and when Shannon brings it up. Shannon gets suspicious and decides to try and flip the house to save James, because she no longer trusts Keshia or Omarosa.

This happens. Marissa/Ross are behind this 100% and are excited to do this. All hell breaks loose after the vote and blindside. Omarosa accuses Shannon of being a racist, skinny, mean girl bitch. Keshia gets super passive aggressive and bitter.

When Ross wins he decides that he’s putting Keshia and Omarosa up (which he does while Omarosa is in the hospital). He 100% wants Omarosa out. When Omarosa gets back she gets  that Shannon was campaigning for Omarsoa to go up and out. (Which isn’t true and Ross was going to do this anyway).  While this is happening Brandi/Ari/Metta talk about possibly backdooring Shannon because she’s such a comp beast (she’s won 2 at this point). They tell Marissa who goes and tells Ross. Ross and Marissa instantly take credit for this idea, which is hilarious, but whatever.

Ross instantly starts trying to rewrite history by telling lies in the diary room and starts badmouthing Shannon in the house to the others. He begins telling Omarosa things like it was Shannon’s fault he put her up and trying to further perpetuate the notion that Shannon is indeed racist and also a terrible person for wanting her up while she’s in the hospital. He says things like how untrustworthy Shannon is and blames lies he told on her.  Marissa starts blaming Shannon for stealing her stuff (we learn she hid it herself).

Ultimately, Marissa wins the veto and is literally begging Keshia on live television to let her use it. She ultimately doesn’t the veto and lets Keshia go home to her child. Meanwhile, in the DR while voting she’s actually bitching about not getting to backstab her supposed “friend” in the house (Shannon sets this record straight. She and Marissa were never friends outside the house).

Ross then instantly goes to Shannon after the next hoh and tells her that everyone wanted to backdoor and he said no. Which again is a STRAIGHT UP LIE. He says this multiple times.  Ari puts up Shannon and James because for her, getting Shannon out was a game move.  When Shannon realizes that her alliance was going to backdoor her and that neither Marissa/Ross have her back she understandably gets upset. Brandi/Ari the reason why Shannon’s nominated treated her dignity and compassion.  Ross/Marissa’s reaction are strikingly different and honestly very confusing and do not cast them in a positive light.  Especially Ross.

Ross’s reaction to Shannon’s sadness was inexplicably rude and this is where I felt like he went wrong. Ross took it to a place that it shouldn’t have gone. He made it personal by calling her rude, annoying, and making fun of her behind her back. Marissa made it worse by accusing her of stealing stuff that she hid herself.  However, Ross went out of his way to try and blame her eviction on anyone but himself. He tried to tell her that he had NOTHING to do with her eviction and that he never was going to backdoor her. And not one single thing he told her in that least week was even close to being true.

How Ross, who is supposedly a super fan (although we find out he never watched a season past BB14), didn’t understand that his jury wasn’t sequestered is shocking to me. Did he not see BB3? Did he not see Dani Reyes’s response to preparing for an unsequestered jury? He was so unnecessarily rude to someone and for what reason? I truly do not understand why he thought treating Shannon like shit behind her back would work out for him in the end? And it wasn’t just Shannon.

He lied to Keshia and Omarosa’s faces too. He listened to Ari talk about how much loyalty meant to her and proved in the end he didn’t care about any of his supposed alliances and wasn’t even going to remain true to his F2 with Marissa. The fact that he thought Ari might vote for him after that is delusional.

Shannon didn’t even have to sway the jury, honestly. Chuck had feeds and had tweeted previously that he didn’t like Ross’s game.  On his own, Ross lost himself Shannon, Chuck, Keshia, Omarosa, and Ari. That’s 5 votes. He couldn’t have won against anyone, imo. The fact that Metta voted for him just makes Ross’s loss a little less severe.  Ross then proceeded to lose Jame’s vote because of how delusional he was. He sat there and truly, honestly bragged about his comp record as if those weren’t thrown to him. Because they were. The only comp not thrown to him was the F5 veto.

Ross’s problem is that he made unnecessary lies that didn’t actually help him in the game. He was playing a game meant for a sequestered jury. The lies he told to Keshia, Omarosa, and Shannon could be easily verified as false as soon as they left. It didn’t keep Ross in the game. It just made 3 jurors pissed at him that he wasn’t owning his game and instead he chose to be fake.

His second problem is that he treated Shanon like crap for literally zero reason. There was no reason for him to treat her the way he did. She did nothing to him. She said nothing bad about him or Marissa and even up until she was on the block, she had their backs. For him to turn around be so rude and the fact that it clearly didn’t have anything to do with the game, makes him look like a bad person.

His third problem is him believing his own lies. It was obvious by F2 that he believed his own lies. He believed he played a truly, honest and upright game. He believed that he did nothing wrong and that he played a game full of integrity. He took credit for wins that were thrown to him and he continue to lie to the jurors who saw the feeds (Keshia/Chuck/Shannon). Omarosa admitted after the show that she had already chosen to vote for Marissa but checked with Shannon anyway who reiterated it. Keshia/Chuck were voting for Marissa on their own too.

Ross went on to win AFP and believes it excuses his behavior and gameplay. At this point, I don’t even care what he believes because it’s obvious he’s delusional and will never own up to playing a shitty game or that he’s not as innocent and nice as he likes to pretend.

Marissa won the season. I disliked Marissa more than Ross, if I’m being honest, but that’s because she was annoying af on the feeds. But her winning over Ross doesn’t piss me off. Why? Because Ross lost due to his actions. Until he admits it, I’m going to continue to be happy about his loss. He deserved it.

Things to take away from this:

  1. Jury Management is indeed a very real thing and it’s part of the game and has been since BB2.  Survivor has proved this multiple times and Big Brother has as well. It’s the butthurt bitter fans who won’t admit it when their fave loses because of their shitty jury management.
  2. Jury management is important in every season, but even more so in seasons with unsequestered juries.
  3. Bitter juries do exist. If a jury is bitter and votes against you, you have to look at your game and admit where you went wrong instead of continuing to try and rewrite history in interviews afterwards
  4. Just because  casuals vote for you for AFP doesn’t mean you’re actually liked or that your game is respected.

#BBCAN5 Reflection

#Reflecting on #BBCAN5

I really had super high hopes going into it. I liked all the returning guests outside of Dallas, who I simply didn’t give a crap about.  I liked Demetres. He’s pretty much the only newb outside of Karen that I even paid attention to. (Although Dre and William were interesting after they removed their heads from Ika’s ass halfway through the season).

I really liked Neda going in. (I still do. I think the outrageous hatred leveled at her is ridiculous and childish). That being said, I really threw my support behind the BBCAN3 players. Kevin and Sindy were two of my faves during their original season. I did not like Bruno because of his overt sexism and just blatant bitter betty routine during that season. But as he was an underdog in #BBCAN5 after the vet alliance blew up, I tolerated him.  Going in, I had deep love and respect for Ika. I really liked her in BBCAN2. I thought her shredding the letters was hilarious and that most of the hgs deserved it for the way they treated her as she was leaving. I adored her friendship with Adel.  I had a love/hate relationship with Cass stemming from BBCAN4, but I mostly was okay with her.  Gary was another hg that I LOVED in BBCAN1. I was so upset when he didn’t win, but that’s mostly because I despised Jillian.

Going in to the first week of feeds I was super on board with the vets and Demetres alliance. I still rooted for Cass/Gary. I was rooting against Dallas and Dillon/Emily and Jacket. I was glad Mark got evicted.

Things changed quickly for me. I ended up after that first eviction just really not liking Cass’s game at all. It was messy, frantic, and frankly it was really bad. She had lost her temper in Tim from BBCAN4. He helped her get to where she got in that season because he calmed her down. Gary on the other hand was not at all helpful in that response because he is not a calming person.  Cass’s game blew up in her face and she earned herself an enemy pretty quickly in Neda. Which in my opinion, Cass did to herself. Nevertheless, Neda’s popularity began to decrease as Cass became a whiny self entitled brat on her way out the door.

Regardless, Neda wasn’t perfect in the house. She wasn’t very nice (she admitted she wouldn’t be going in). This did not sit well with fans who expected her to be a robot with strategy and have no feelings or response to being shit on verbally to her face and behind her back. Neda also had Ika and Sindy consistently telling her things people were saying behind her back, only adding to Neda’s bitterness/anger.

It came to a head when Ika and Neda got into a fight because Ika was blatantly by this point working against her to build an army of newbies to take down Neda. Kevin/Bruno were passive and Sindy was a gullible easily manipulated vote by that point. When it came to the double eviction, Neda had no chance. She had no one in her corner because Ika had poisoned the entire house against her. Neda went home. She got booed, which was beyond ridiculous and immature and frankly I was super disappointed by the audience for that. Of all the people to boo, you choose to boo the person who was playing the game and compared to houseguests in previous BBCAN houses wasn’t even that mean? And in comparison to Ika who was  consistently worse with her behavior and words towards other in the house? Yeah. I wasn’t a fan of Canadians after that behavior.

At that point, I was done with Ika. I was done with her pettiness, juvenile antics, bullying, and hypocrisy. She said wayyyy worse things about Sindy behind her back than anything Neda did in the “insult corner”. Ika was horrendous to Jackie to her face and behind her back. She was terrible to Bruno as he left the house. She was again atrocious to Dre and William as they left. The only people she didn’t excoriate was Demetres and Karen.

I threw my full support behind BBCAN3 at this point.  I wanted nothing more than for Ika to reap what she sowed with her hypocrisy. I still liked Demetres because as much as he played Ika’s lapdog when she got into arguments, he still was friendly and nice for the most part and he was a comp beast. I would’ve have been fine had he won. But when Karen started making horrible comments about Kevin and becoming as bad as Ika, I rooted against them both hardcore.

When Kevin made it F3, I knew he’d be in the end. He was the only of F3 that actually studied. I knew he’d win too. Karen did NOTHING and Demetres, while he had a shot if in F2, wouldn’t be there, because Kevin would win the final HoH.

I was right and I was ecstatic that he won.  He deserved to win it. He WON OUT. HE FUCKING WON OUT. That means he literally won EVERY competition he had to to get to the F2. HE DESERVED THE FUCKING WIN.

That being said, when the cast was interviewed the next day and we found out that there was no way Ika was winning against anyone (which she fucking deserved too) and that they’d probably vote against Demetres because of her, I wasn’t exactly happy. I get why they would vote against Ika. She was terrible to Neda, Jackie, Sindy, Bruno, Dre, and William on their way out.  She literally treated 6 jurors like shit as they were leaving. I mean, if she really thought she was making F2, this was just an incredibly fucking stupid move on her part. She was never going to win. EVER. When people talk about how there’s no such thing as jury management, I’ll point you to this. She was a fucking bitch to 6 people as they left. She did that. So yes, jury management exists and hers was the worst I’ve ever seen. (Paul had better jury management. Let that sink in.)

Demetres though. Demetres would’ve been a deserving winner, even over Kevin, imo. He won the most comps of anyone in one season. He had a great social game, he was incredibly smart, and he teamed up with the right alliance to get him to F3. He was one comp win away from being in F2. I don’t agree with the jury’s sentiment that they’d vote against him just because they hated Ika.

And this is why I think there was a way for Ika to lose to anyone and the jury not be bitter and Demetres to lose and the jury be bitter AF. Ika would’ve deserved the loss. She willingly would’ve had cost herself the game because she didn’t have the self control to not be a fucking bitch to people as they left the house. Demetres on the other hand wouldn’t have deserved to lose because when it comes down it, he can’t control what Ika did in the house. He was in alliance with her but he wasn’t her handler.

In the end, Kevin was a very deserving winner, despite what Demika fans still bitch about on Twitter and Reddit.  I was happy with the ending and ultimately, BBCAN5 is one of my favorite seasons of Big Brother ever, Canada and USA combined.

That being said, I do like Ika. I think she is funny and entertaining on social media. I would never, ever want to be stuck in a big brother house with her though, because I wouldn’t be able to hold my tongue if she tried to go after me and I’d definitely end up getting myself evicted.

I have high hopes for BBCAN6 as we enter the new season in a few days. I hope we get the drama of #bbcan1, the fights of #bbcan2, the amazing hgs like Sarah, Britt, and Godfrey of #bbcan3, the amazing strategy of players like Tim from #bbcan4, the overall alliances, strategy, and drama of #bbcan5.

Here’s to #BBCAN6. May it be just what we need, more than we hoped for, and so amazing they can’t help but give us a #bbcan7

Brooke Davis

I love One Tree Hill. I watch the show on Netflix at least a few times a week.  I’m currently rewatching season 6.  I have many thoughts and feelings on the show. I am currently off of work for a few days and so I did some research. I wanted to know what the general consensus on the Internet was concerning Brooke Davis, or  Brooke Penelope Davis as Jamie calls her, is.

I scoured the internet for messages boards posts from the mid 200os. I read the Brucas threads, I read the Anti-Peyton threads (in which they called her Seyton), and I read the Brooke threads. Overwhelmingly, these threads tended to turn into a hate fest of Leyton and of Peyton, but didn’t actually talk about why they loved Brooke or even why they shipped Brucas. It always came down to preferring Brucas and Booke over Peyton because she kept Brooke/Lucas apart.

It honestly was a super frustrating two days of reading. I am a HUGE fan of One Tree Hill. I adore Peyton, probably more than I adore anyone else on the show. I didn’t care for Brooke in high school much, because she was super immature and shady and at times downright cruel and vindictive. But she grew on me. She matured, she stopped being insecure, and she was an overall great person. It took until season 5 for me to really LOVE her and root for her as a person.

I never once found myself wishing Brooke would die a painful, horrible death or hoping she’d be written off or wanted to leave the show. I’ve been there with characters from other television shows before, but not her. I’ll be honest. I hated Brucas. They did not work as a couple.

In season one when Brooke decides that Lucas is hot and she wants to get with him, she decides she’s going to try to get her best friend Peyton (who Lucas really likes by the way) back together with Nathan. A guy who was horrible to Peyton. He treated her like crap and basically verbally abused her. They were a terrible couple and he constantly cheated on Peyton with anything in a skirt. Peyton finally got up the courage to dump him and here comes Brooke deciding that it’s okay for her to be selfish and to go after the guy who really wants to be there for Peyton and to be with her.

And thus starts the triangle that lasts for five more seasons on the show. Peyton is intrigued by Lucas. He tells her her art matters and it’s what got him to play basketball. He tells her he wants to be with her and have a relationship with her. She gets freaked out, because the only relationship she’s known is with a huge douche. And now his older brother is wanting to be with her too. So she runs away. She makes a mistake.

Meanwhile, Brooke is pressuring Peyton into admitting her true feelings for Lucas. Peyton doesn’t want to be vulnerable like that, so she lies. But deep down, Nathan knows. It’s why he was so angry when he discovers his older brother is in the popular crowd now. Brooke knows it’s why she’s keeping Nathan away from finding true love with Haley, Lucas’s best friend, and why she’s urging Peyton and Nathan to get back together.

This is where Brooke lost me. She pulled an incredibly shady move that literally hurt Peyton, Lucas, Nathan, and Haley. She hurt four people with her selfishness. It left a sour taste in my mouth what she did to Haley and Nathan the most, honestly. I was super into Naley.

And then Peyton got date raped and Brooke ended up making that entire night about her and how upset/sad she was. Lucas fell for it. They ended up going on a date and pretty much sleeping together right away. This was the 2nd strike for Brooke to me, if I’m being honest. Not only do you know your best friend has a thing for Lucas and vice versa, you basically skip multiple levels of standard dating etiquette to bed him. You get him drunk and then you fuck him.

I lost a lot of respect for Brooke here and even more for Lucas. He literally only did that because he was hurt by Peyton rejecting him. She said no, she he went with the next girl who wanted him. She made it all to easy for him to.  I was pretty disgusted by both Lucas/Brooke after that.

When Lucas gets in a car accident not long after she basically makes Keith/Karen comfort her and forces her attention and company on them, even to the point of being a nuisance. When she realizes that Lucas and Peyton still have feelings for each other, despite her constant machinations, she goes off on them.

Listen, getting cheated on is no fun. I’ve been cheated on. But I also didn’t pull the shit Brooke did to get a guy. If I did that and I found out later he cheated on me with the person I knew he liked. I’d be like, “Okay. I probably shouldn’t have interfered and gone after a guy my best friend was into and I knew that.” Brooke brought that on herself. This is where Brucas fans lose me. They claim that Peyton alone is to blame for this whole situation because she didn’t just tell the truth. But refuse to blame Brooke for pulling a super shady, fucked up moved on her supposed best friend. If I found out that my best friend pulled what Brooke did, they wouldn’t even be an acquaintance anymore.

That move was fucked up and led to what happened at the end of season one. I’m not even sorry for saying it. Brooke was a shitty person and a friend to do that to Peyton, Nathan, Lucas, and Haley.

Should Lucas and Peyton have snuck around behind Brooke’s back? No. That wasn’t cool either. I guarantee though that if they had handled it the way Lucas wanted to by just telling Brooke, Brucas fans would still be livid. The fact remains that Brucas was over in season 1 because of a shitty, shady move pulled by their “queen”, Brooke.

Season two Brooke wasn’t nearly as annoying to me, but I really disliked her story with Felix. He was gross, chauvinistic, and clearly not a good person. I also didn’t like how mean she was to Anna in season 2 for no real reason when Peyton became friends with her. Not to mention when she decided to throw a fundraiser only to keep the money for herself so she could buy new clothes. And honestly she wasn’t there for Peyton during season 2 during the drug fiasco or when Felix spray painted her locker. She was busy having sex with a terrible guy and defending him. The thing that really bothered me the most was when she decided it would be appropriate to take naked pictures of Peyton in the shower and post them on the internet. As you recall, it wasn’t long after those pictures made their way to the internet that Peyton’s psycho stalker started contacting her. I honestly blame Brooke for a little of that. People always want to bash Peyton for being a bad friend, and Brooke was as bad.

In season 3, I fucking loathed Brooke. Her friends with benefits, non exculsive thing with Lucas was seriously the most fucking immature thing I’ve ever seen from anyone on the show, including the actual children on the show. She was horrendous and it was painful to sit through her scenes of acting like a 12 year old. I just couldn’t with her. The thing that pushed me firmly on the #teamPeyton boat forever, was when she attacked Lucas for going on a date with Rachel. Brooke had pushed him and pushed him for weeks to just hook up with someone else and when he did, she went full on crazy. Like, bitch, please. You don’t get to tell a highschool boy to go be with someone else, because you don’t want to commit and think he’s going to be, “No. I’m cool with not having sex with anyone until you realize that I’m the one for you.” Grown men wouldn’t do that. And for the record, no man is a mind reader. You’re expecting a high school boy to understand that you want him to run after you and profess his undying love for you? Don’t be a cloyingly annoying bitch to him then. And EVEN when she was being over the top ridiculous with her expectations, Lucas tried to give her what she wanted.

And even when Lucas finally got her to stop being dumb, and they started dating, she was always worried about Peyton, who wasn’t even thinking about that. And then the school shooting happened and she made that about herself to. Her best friend nearly died in the school, her boyfriend went in to rescue her, and her other two best friends were also in there with the shooter. And when Peyton gets to the hospital, guess who doesn’t visit her AT ALL? Brooke. Her supposed best friend, really needed to be there with her boyfriend and his mom 24/7 because Keith died. Really she didn’t, but whatever makes her feel less guilty about basically abandoning her best friend that ALMOST FUCKING DIED.

And then she has this brilliant plan to throw a party in the school where Lucas lost the only father figure he ever had. And SHE gets offended when he doesn’t want to participate. And also a little jealous that Lucas saved Peyton’s life. She was actually upset that the “boy she loves saved the girl he loves.” Like she chose that time to tell Peyton, hey by the way, don’t steal my boyfriend, k?’ Cause you know going through a traumatic school shooting for the person who was shot, takes back seat to your insecurities and whininess.

And then it all falls apart for Brucas, because she realizes she and Lucas have nothing in common, she doesn’t really miss him when they’re apart and their conversations aren’t deep and meaningful. Of course, she blames Peyton for them breaking up, because Peyton tells her she’s actually in love with Lucas and never stopped being in love with him.

And then it bleeds into season 4, where she’s over Lucas, but continues to punish Peyton by telling her she’s gonna steal Lucas back and she can do whatever she wants with Lucas whenever she wants. She makes fun of Peyton’s dead mothers. She calls her names and makes her feel like a shitty friend. The only thing Peyton had the audacity to do was tell her she was in love with Lucas, but wasn’t going to do anything about it. And she didn’t. She kept her word, but being honest with your best friend and vowing to move on and put it behind you makes you a devil, according to Brucas fans. Even in season 4, everything was blamed on Peyton. She was vilified more than Dan. She was bashed, called ugly, anorexic, and made out to be satan himself, all because she did what Brooke had asked to be honest with her.

And then we find out she not only slept with Nathan during the time that Peyton dated him, she slept with him when they were together. This bitch had the audacity to bitch Peyton out for stealing her boyfriend twice, neither time did Peyton sleep with Lucas, by the way, but actually did worse. Like did you just bitch about Peyton for stealing a guy in season 1 that was actually in to her first? Or for the 2nd time when you dumped him because you knew that you weren’t going to last? Because last time I checked Peyton didn’t steal Lucas the 2nd time. You gave him up and shoved him toward her. My favorite part of this is that Brucas fans were sooo upset that Brooke did something wrong with the sex tape that they made petitions to try and make Mark Schwann take it back, because Brooke would never do anything wrong.

Brooke did some really selfish, dumb things over the course of the next season, but by the end of season 4, she was on her way to growing up.

Then comes the adult years. In season 5-9, I ADORE Brooke. She was funny, sweet, caring, and she was a GREAT friend to Haley, Nathan, Peyton, Lucas, Millie, Rachel, Mouth. She grew up. She stopped doing things for selfish reasons. She stopped being so insecure. She knew that she was worthy of love and she wasn’t going to settle to be the footnote in someone else’s love story. Her words.

And so, Brooke Davis is a deeply flawed character. She did some really awful, cruel, and selfish things. Mostly for the wrong reasons. She grew up and did amazing things for the right reasons. I love Brooke Davis. I love her success, I love her journey, and I love her arc. I just didn’t like her for most of her high school years.

Despite how many Brucas fans bash Peyton unnecessarily and refuse to acknowledge any of Brooke’s flaws or shortcomings, I’m not going to take that out on the character of Brooke. She was a very well written character, and I believe I’m better off for having experienced her story.

Up next… Peyton Sawyer, why she’s the best character on the show.

BBOTT and why it sucked but also didn’t.

The title appears to be a bit incongruous, but it’s how I feel. I didn’t hate the format. After about three weeks of voting, I realized that America by and large shouldn’t be allowed to vote for things, even for something silly like BBOTT.  I am not a fan of the care package. I think voting for a nominee and have nots is enough. We don’t need a care package or a vote until finale. I think having that much power skewed a lot of the game and ended up making people insane. The house was split truly or the first time since season 6. Season 6 still goes down as one of my favorites, but it shows me that the Nerd Herd would’ve been America’s favorites that year if we transplanted it and put it in 2016. That’s depressing to me. Janelle, Howie, Kaysar, James would have been hated and treated like crap and lambasted across Twitter. In Season 6 America agreed one one thing, the Nerd Herd sucked. They were sanctimonious, holier than thou cry babies who begged and pleaded for everything.

And this year the Nerd Herd is the Plastics. (I refuse to call them the ballsmashers when they only managed to smash one pair of balls in Scott) took over the roll of Nerd Herd 2.0. With their constant pandering to America, to claiming they were the good, normal people and everyone else on the other side were pieces of crap,  (Shelby and Morgan’s words) to believing they could play the game however they wanted, including breaking multiple deals (Alex) but bitching when the other side did as well, it was hard for me to stomach them, let alone rooting for any of them to win.

On the other hand you had the Misfits who were loud, brash, uncouth, and said pretty much whatever the heck they wanted to at any given moment and didn’t pretend they were the “good, normal” people. They were jerks and they knew it. They knew they were being petty and played it up. They got upset and annoyed and they wondered why America voted against them (some of the time), but ultimately they got over it. They didn’t spend hours begging in the storage room for America to vote their way with the have nots, nominee, or vote. The Plastics did. In fact, it got so bad I refused to watch DRs from Alex while she was in the house, because it was literally all she did. Her only game was to beg America. And she was considered such a great strategist and gameplayer. And nothing she did came close to being good game.

And it boils down to this, the Plastic stans are wannabe social justice warriors (sjw’s). They like to think they’re sticking up for women (because Jason said some bad stuff about Shelby), they want to root for strong, intelligent women to win the game, and they dislike how mean and petty the Misfits were. And then they also liked to tell people, “Oh we’re just rooting for the underdog.” Well, when the plastics won the majority of the care packages and hoh’s, it’s hard to call them underdogs. When confronted with this truth, their true colors showed, “We just don’t like Kryssie. She’s gross. She’s annoying, she burps too much, she whines, she doesn’t play the game.” Or, “Jason is a returning player with a built in fan base.” “Justin is too good at the social game, he doesn’t try hard enough at the other parts of the game.” Yet the entire time they are claiming these things, Shelby, Morgan, Alex, Scott, and Whitney are blasting Danielle. They call her a slut, the make fun of her body when she wears a bikin, they call her a vile troll, they imply she’s a bad mother for having a showmance, for daring to leave her kid to even go on the show. This was pretty much a daily occurence. If I flipped on feeds to the Plastics they were making fun of Dani or some member of the Misfits.  And then I’d flip over to the Misfits and it was usually them talking about sex, Neeley twerking, or doing something stupid. They had fun. They were coarse and rude and had conversations that would make grandmother’s blush.

Jason did say vile things about Shelby, but Shelby also said vile, horrible things about Dani, Justin, Kryssie, and Jason. Morgan said horrific things about Dani, Justin, Jason, and Kryssie. Whitney called Dani a slut multiple times, and Scott said nasty things about Kryssie and Dani.  In my viewing of BBOTT, I saw far more shit talking and cruel talk come from the Plastics in regard to the other side. After BB18 and listening to Michelle and Zakiyah constantly shilt talk the other girls, I wanted nothing to do with the mean girl crap. I’m over it. I’m tired of these girls getting cast and America thinking it’s okay and that it’s just the way the game is played. And I sure as shit do not want to reward anyone 250K for it.

I chose to be Team Misfits after a few weeks on Twitter when I realized the majority of the people supporting the Plastics were as vile and cruel and hypocritcal as the people they were stanning. I particularly recall being told if you like the Misits you are probably not good at being a human being. With the constant derision and attacking and having RHAP, Reddit, and Jokers bashing the Misfits and their supporters nonstop for a full season, I realized that I’d rather support the Misfits, the outcasts, the people that the mainstream want to ridicule and turn their backs on.

This season was ruined for me and by the supposed super fans of the show, who showed they are worse than casuals when it comes to the show. They think by saying, “Oh, it’s just meant to be fun” while tearing down people and calling them dumb, or bad at being human beings, or insulting their intelligence because they want to vote for someone you don’t like or vice versa, it’s okay. It’s not no harm/no foul. Having a split fandom isn’t actually a good thing or a fun thing, especially when people are being insulted by supposedly neutral parties. It’s not okay how a majority of this fandom acted this fall about BBOTT (I’m including myself in this). It’s not okay that people were told by update sites and podcast sites that their opinions didn’t matter and that if they supported one side over another that they were dumb or bad at being human beings.

I honestly hope that they don’t bring back BBOTT2 unless they change it. I want to see old school Big Brother. Get rid of the twists, no returning players, the key wheel back, and good old fashioned strategy with minimal involvement from America. That’s what I want. I don’t want care packages, or a nominee vote, or an eviction vote. And I want people to stop acting like fucking fools about BBOTT. But that ship has sailed.

(And in case you hadn’t got the clue, I’m 100% voting for Jason in the finale. It was gonna be him or Shelby for my vote)

Why Jordan Smith should win The Voice

I still watch the Voice, because I love music and because it’s still fresh to me. I love discovering new singers and I really like the idea of it about being about the voice and not someone’s appearance, which is why I was soooo glad that Zach left before the finale, because he was only in the Top 10 because of what he looked like. Thankfully the 12 year old fangirls of the show aren’t the top demographic. That being said, Jordan Smith, is probably the best singer I think the show has ever seen. I’m not talking performer, although is rendition of “Somebody to Love” was a theatrical spectacle unlike I can remember watching in previous years, but Jordan Smith’s voice surpasses most voices the Voice has ever seen, and is better than a lot of current popular singers in the industry right now. People hate him because he’s “too good” and want him to lose the show for various reasons, like “he’s fake, “he’s too good”, “he’s not the best singer”(which is laughable at best), “he’s fat”, “he’s ugly”, “he got too much help from Adam”. Whatever the naysayers are saying, it’s not enough to detract from the simple fact that a show called “The Voice” should ultimately be about the voice. Jordan’s voice is spectacular. It is one of a kind and it’s up there with the likes of Freddie Mercury, and divas like Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, and other freaks of nature whose voice is bigger than themselves, who sings and the world stops to listen because they are that good. Jordan Smith is the best contestant on any singing competition I have ever heard, and if he doesn’t win The Voice tomorrow night, something is wrong with the world.

In Defense of Grant Ward

I haven’t watched Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D since last season. I don’t even know why I bothered last season to be honest. Since they turned Grant Ward evil because they needed an exciting plotline and needed it to tie into Captain America: Winter Soldier, I haven’t cared at all about the show. I was really invested in Grant Ward as a character and I still am, but I honestly find what they did to his character as unforgivable. Now he’s just the whipping boy for everyone on the show, since he’s caught in between being evil and wanting redemption and not getting it. They have ruined any chance of Skyeward, which is fine, honestly, but I am tired of seeing Ward constantly being treated like shit by Skye. Stop making Ward pine after her. It’s so unrealistic to begin with anyway. The build up of Skeyward in season 1 was rushed and an actual good storyline with May and Ward was scrapped for something ridiculous.  And then they jerk his character around to routinely treat him like shit. And Skye, Simmons, and Coulson all have the audacity to believe they aren’t even a little to blame with his reaction to them. Skye is the worst offender of all. The final straw for me is when Coulson murders him and the monster takes over Ward and turns him into  the monster Skye, Coulson, and the others have always painted him out to be, instead of the complex human he was.

I really hate the writers honestly for all of this, but most of all for how they chose to treat Brett Dalton. It was a disservice to him as an actor and to his character of Ward.  It’s no surprise that most “Fans” of AoS want Brett Dalton to be fired anyway, because most “fans” are idiots who cannot separate acting from real life, and I truly believe some are delusional enough to believe Brett Dalton IS Ward. I won’t be watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D anymore, but I wasn’t watching it anyways.

One less TV show for me to care about and watch, which I’m fine with.

One Tree Hill 1×02 Recap

The opening scene is the boys at the River Court messing around. I can already tell you as someone who has gone to a shit ton of high school basketball games, Luke would have been forced to be at the school already watching the junior varsity game if he was actually on a high school team, but this isn’t reality. And it slightly pisses me off.

Haley has a hilarious diatribe about Karen not wanting to go to the game because of Dan and speak of the devil he is in the next scene giving Nathan pointers.

Whitey in an awkward moment yells for “Scott” and both Lucas and Nathan turn to look at him. And Nathan is pissed when it’s not him.

Tim refers to Lucas as the bastard spawn.

Mouth and Jimmy get kicked out for being “media”, it’s hilariously adorable at the basketball game while trying to get a quote from Lucas. I really love Mouth and Jimmy.

Nothing like a bunch of white guys chanting off key and clapping out of rhythm.

Dan is shocked to see Keith at the game and assumes he’s there to watch Nathan, but really he’s there to see Lucas.

We finally get a glimpse of Brooke who is intrigued by Lucas.

And then we get one of the iconic Leyton quotes with

“Nice Hands”

“Nice Legs” bit between Lucas and Peyton, as Lucas plays the worst game of his life and looks like an idiot on the court.

Dan is excited to see his other son, the one he doesn’t love or actually acknowledge, get benched.

Peyton and Nathan make out in a super awkward scene in the car. Nathan starts making fun of Lucas sucking and Peyton gets mad. She tells him he should be focused on her instead of celebrating a public humiliation and that it was “played out”, and he implied that being with her was also “played out.”

She gets angry and she gets out. He leaves her at the River Court after throwing her c.d. out into the dark.

Keith and Karen argue about what he did to get Lucas on the team. Karen feels guilty for not going to the basketball game, but she just can’t go back to the gym after everything that had happened.

Peyton finds Lucas forlornly shooting the basketball and says that misery loves company.  She gives him a really depressing pep talk. He offers her a ride home in the tow truck.

Nathan, meanwhile arrives home and his dad is angry at him for giving up a scoring opportunity when he passed the ball to an open teammate.  Nathan is clearly upset and tells Dan there’s a reason why his mom extends business trips and doesn’t come home.

Peyton asks Lucas why he joined the team, since he doesn’t fit in. He tells her he wants to know if he’s good. Peyton says that basketball is a waste of time. He asks her why she does cheer leading then if she feels it’s a waste of time. She says if she says she likes it, she’s a liar, but if she says she’s doesn’t then she’s a fraud and it’s a lose lose situation either way.

She asks Lucas if he’d like to come in to her house. He asks about Nathan and she says, “What about him?”

She gets out of the car. Lucas stares in stunned silence for a few seconds and then gets of the truck. He follows her up the steps and as she’s unlocking the door she turns around and asks him what he’s doing.

He stumbles over his words about her inviting him, and she says,

“I didn’t invite you to come in. I just asked if you wanted to. Thanks for the ride.”

She then shuts the door and Lucas is left on the doorstep looking pissed and like an idiot. (And every time I see this scene, I can’t help but think that Michael Kelso is waiting in one of the bushes and will pop out and do this:

Kelso-Says-Burn-That-70s-Show)

Lucas arrives home and Karen tells him she’s sorry that she missed his game. Lucas goes to his room to pout.

Nathan calls Peyton and apologizes for taking his frustration and anger with his dad out on her. He tells her he knows that he hasn’t been very good to her and she’s sorry. He asks her to just say okay so that they can go back to being them. She reluctantly says okay.

The next morning Lucas is at the River Court practicing, but continues to miss all his shots. It cuts to English class and the teacher is discussing Hemingway and the idea that “less is more.”

The teacher asks Peyton describe Lucas in one word and she says “choke”. Lucas describes her as “lonely.”

Nathan clearly pissed raises his hand describes Lucas in one word as “bastard.”

Lucas attacks Nathan and the rest of the class cheers them on.

Whitey is furious at them for fighting and is especially mad at Lucas for doing it when he took a chance on him. Lucas tells him he doesn’t think he can be on the team. Whitey is frustrated.

Meanwhile in the locker room, Tim was asking Nathan what he did after he tackled Lucas. He tells Tim that he would’ve kicked his ass if Mr. Kelly hadn’t broken them up.

Jake Jagielski laughs and says, “Or he would’ve beaten your ass first.”

Nathan asks him what he would know about it.

Jake says he’s pretty sure that Lucas tackled Nathan first and when it was broken up he was on the bottom being hit by Lucas.

Whitey breaks them up and tells them to get to practice.

Nathan stops and tells Lucas that “This is just the beginning for him.”

After practice, Haley asks Lucas why he wouldn’t tell her about getting into a fight. He tells her he’s fine, but he just wants everything to back to normal before all of this started.

Brooke and Peyton are in Peyton’s room listening to music and Brooke tells her she’s glad that Nathan and Peyton are fighting again, because Peyton always buys new music when it happens. Brooke tells Peyton that she knows she’s all “Plaid skirt, Gwen Stefani, I’m a badass, but we love you and you know why? Because when it’s Friday night and it’s game time and there you are. One of us.” Peyton doesn’t seem to excited to hear that and tells Brooke that “Gwen Stefani is not a badass.”

Peyton asks Brooke if she’s past it, high school,  the cheer leading, the basketball, the popularity drama. Brooke says that yeah, but the future scares her, but she’ll go to college and join a sorority and marry a rich guy, “unless I get fat.” (I want to like high school Brooke. I really, really do. But when she’s written like this, it just makes me want to slap her.)

Lucas is at Keith’s body shop. Keith is telling Lucas that even Michael Jordan had off games. His first game as a rookie wasn’t very good. Lucas tells him that Michael Jordan scored 16 points and Keith laughs and says he didn’t think Lucas knew that. Lucas tells him that it’s not just basketball, but it’s everything, the pressure, the popularity. He tells him he’ll never fit into their world. Keith tells him to talk to his mom about it. Keith takes the cover off Peyton’s car and it’s really messy inside. Keith says it’s a rule of life, “The prettier the girl, the messier the car.”  (Some shows have continuity! This is reference to the first episode when Peyton’s car overheated by the lake and Lucas had to tow it).  He finds her sketchbook in the backseat and looks through her artwork. And of course Peyton would walk up at that exact minute and start yelling at him for invading her privacy and then makes a really mean comment about how she doesn’t read his diary about how much his dad doesn’t love him and to stay out of her stuff. (I don’t like this early version of Peyton either. She’s such a bitch to Lucas and other than looking at her sketches, he had never done anything to her).

As he watches her walk away I’m always trying to imagine what he’s thinking, because his face goes from

“Holy shit that girl is crazy” to smirking and being like, “but that’s cool, because I like crazy.”

Meanwhile, Nathan is at home lifting weights and Dan comes home and yells at Nathan for getting into a fight with “that kid”.

Dan tells him to not get into fights over stupid things like girls. He asks if Nathan got hurt and he says “No. Did you?”

Dan looks stunned at that and Nathan tells him that Lucas wasn’t swinging at him, but at Dan.

Karen yells at Lucas about getting into a fight with Nathan and the he never fought before that. She tells him she doesn’t care what happened or what Nathan did, nothing was worth fighting and Lucas asks her how she could possibly know considering she never even to the game.

He felt bad and the next morning he apologized for being a jackass and she explains why she couldn’t go to the gym. She tells him she never regrets anything about Lucas, but it still hurts to know that Dan chose basketball over Karen and Lucas. He tells her he’s sorry that she had to live it.

Dan tells Nathan that Whitey won’t kick Lucas off the team because of one game and it’s because Whitey hated Dan and he’s only keeping him on the team to punish him. Apparently, Dan was on the championship team in high school and Whitey benched him. Dan says that he refused to go back in the game, because he though Whitey’s way of coaching was stupid and he’d rather watch his team lose, than give Whitey the chance to think he was the reason they won the game.

Lucas is in the school library looking for a book and Jake comes up to him. He asks him if he reads a lot and Lucas tells him he does. Jake tells him he has something for him. Jake tells him that Nathan is a great player, but Lucas scares him and everything changes when fear is involved. He tells Lucas he’ll be fine as long as he doesn’t let Nathan take it. Lucas asks him what that means, and Jake tells him he’ll find out when he reads the book.

Back in English class, Mr. Kelly tells them he’s going to do the project again, but instead of doing it out loud, he gives them a piece of paper. He tells them each to write down what they want out of life most at  that very minute in one word.

Lucas is back at the river court practicing and Nathan shows up. Lucas is still missing all of his shots and Nathan tells him “You do it like this” and shows him how to shoot various shots. He tells him it’s fascinating to watch someone lose their talent and he’s enjoying watching Lucas lose his. He tells Lucas to prove him wrong. Nathan says he was looking forward to taking him down slowly, but now Lucas has made it easy for him and won’t show up to practice just to humiliate himself.

Whitey goes down his roster and realizes Lucas didn’t show up for practice. Peyton shows up to get her car and asks Lucas about missing practice. He hands her the keys and her sketchbook. She tells him that he knows nothing about her and her drawings don’t mean anyone to anything. She wants her art to be meaningful and if it’s not, she doesn’t want to ruin it. Lucas tells her that’s how it is for basketball and him too.

Dan shows up at Whitey’s office and tells him to get over the high school championship and to stop taking it out on Nathan and that he’s only humiliating “Karen’s son.” Whitey tells him how it feels to father and abandon a child. Dan laughs at that and tells him to move Nathan back to shooting guard and maybe they’ll win more games. Whitey tells him he’s making it a career to ruin kid’s lives. Dan tells him that Whitey already made that his career.

Mr. Kelly is in his classroom reading the answers from the earlier class activity. We find out that Peyton wants truth in art, Nathan wants revenge, and Lucas wants answers.

Lucas sits on the picnic table at the River court when Whitey shows up. Lucas tells Whitey he can’t do it. Whitey tells him that he has had 35 winning seasons and the only thing that keeps him up at night is the college jobs that he never took. He says that it’s the missed opportunities that haunt us. He tells him that once he figures out what he’s afraid of he can beat it and better yet he can use it to conquer his fears. He tells him he’s on the team until the next night’s game.

Nathan is painting Peyton’s toes. He tells her she has ugly toes and they fight about it. Nathan tells Peyton he wants to quit the team because Whitey is never happy and he can’t do anything right according to his dad. She gets excited and says we can both quit, but Nathan laughs at her and says he’s not actually quitting.

Haley and Lucas  talk about their porn names. (This scene is just totally out of nowhere and doesn’t really fit in, but it was cute). Haley tells him that no jersey and nothing will ever change Lucas from who he is inside. She says that they’ll go get pizza later to get his mind off the game.

He looks through Peyton’s sketches again and he finds the “They Are Not You” sketch and his mother walks in his bedroom with laundry. She says this reminds her of when he was in junior leagues and loved playing basketball but he suddenly quit the team. Lucas tells her he quit because of Dan. He didn’t want to have to see him and because he was afraid if he played he’d become just like Dan. He said that when he played in the gym he felt like Dan had a piece of him and it never felt like that at the playground. Karen tells him that Dan has taken enough from them and she’s going to watch her son play the game he loves. Lucas thanks Karen for the words of wisdom. He runs to Thud and gives them Peyton’s sketches.

He makes his way to the gym. Dan tells Nathan to think about no one but himself and let everyone else worry about him.

Peyton shows up to cheer in the game and Brooke says she was worried she wouldn’t show.

Lucas is in the gym and Dan calls him “son.” He turns around and Dan asks Lucas to give Nathan his bag.

Jake sees this and tells Lucas not to let Dan take his talent, because it’s all his, not Dan’s.

Luke in a voiceover shares this quote,

“Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible.. it’s yours.”

Karen shows up and catches Dan’s eye. She keeps her head up and finds a seat. Lucas runs out with the team and stops at Peyton and says,

“Your art matters; it’s what got me here.”

Whitey smiles at Lucas and says that he will be okay and Lucas grins and says I know.

Whitey moves and Lucas is left staring at Dan. Dan smirks, but Lucas smirks back and turns around.

His shirt is missing a last name. He had ripped off the Scott name and left it in the locker room and for the first time in two episodes, Dan is clearly upset by something Lucas has done.

And it fades to black….
