Grammys 2017

I, for one, enjoyed the Grammys for the first time in a while. I really enjoyed the performances for the most part, outside of Katy Perry’s, who I am 100% done with after she made fun of Britney Spears’ mental breakdown back in 2007. Making fun of something already stigmatized isn’t cool and Katy Perry is a terrible person for doing it, not once, but twice.

My highlights of the evening were:

  1. Bruno Mars in everything he did. That man is the best thing to happen to music since Michael Jackson/Prince. I adore him.
  2. Adele in everything she did. I don’t care that she started over, I don’t hate her for winning over Beyonce. I love for her breaking her AOTY award in half to give her a portion of it. I love her for being real as fuck.
  3. Beyonce being gracious in defeat, when everyone knows she deserved to win it.
  4. The Alicia Keys and Maren Morriss duet.
  5. Tori Kelly outsinging Demi Lovato in like 3 seconds. Sorry, but Demi you’ll never outsing her.
  6. Rihanna dancing in the audience
  7. ATCQ’s rap. HOT DAMN. That rap was fire.
  8. Chance the Rapper winning all the awards. I love him. He took me to church and I aint even a little made.

Honorable Mention:

CeeLo Green flipping off everyone and driving off when he didn’t win a grammy. hilarious.

My lowlights:

The ugly ass outfits worn by a lot of people

The BeeGee tribute as a whole. Demi trying to outsing Tori and failing and Andra Day being overshadowed by Demi’s screeching.

James Corden. I had high hopes, but he was just grating and annoying as fuck for most of it.

Katy Perry being a straight up bitch and hypocrite.

Peyton and Haley’s friendship

I know that I said, that Peyton’s character was my next post, but I decided to do this one first, because after rewatching season 5, I’m really not feeling the Peyton/Haley friendship and it was forever tainted for me after this season. I posted the below on a OTH forum.

In season one, Peyton befriends Haley after an away basketball game where she misses the bus home. Peyton has to drive Brooke’s car home, because Brooke got injured in the game and was on super high sedatives. For that season Haley/Peyton started a tentative friendship. Brooke wasn’t all that interested in being friends with Haley and in fact tried to put Peyton/Nathan back together so she should get Lucas and hurt Haley deeply.

However, in season 3 Paley’s friendship sort of hit a stalemate. They basically replaced Peyton with Brooke to prop Brooke/Haley as this epic friendship that could rival Brooke/Peyton, while also tearing down Peyton/Haley and having the ridiculous storyline of Peyton treating Haley like crap for multiple episodes after Haley abandoned her friends/husband to go on tour. Then Haley/Brooke move in together and it’s like they were always bffs. And literally Paley don’t interact for almost an entire season. Then she makes Brooker her maid of honor. Then season 4 hits and even when Brooke does something extremely crappy to Haley by stealing the calculus exam and getting Hale fired, she still make Brooke godmother. That is what bothers me so much. Brooke gets treated like she’s Haley’s best friend and they barely acknowledge the friendship Peyton/Haley started in season 1. Not to mention that she threw all her support behind Brooke/Lucas and encouraged Lucas to be with Brooke multiple times. However Peyton is just the girl that Lucas cheats with and when Lucas and Peyton get together in season 4, Haley doesn’t really give Peyton that same benefit.

Peyton/Haley had some good scenes in season 5. I’m not saying they didn’t, but the propping of Lindsey and tearing down of Peyton’s character to make Lindsey a likeable character did not sit well with me and I’m never going to be okay that Haley was a part of it. In addition, in the first episode when Brooke/Peyton show up, it went back to immediately being Brooke as sister like and the godmother to Jamie. So immediately, she’s back to being Haley’s #2. Peyton on the other hand is basically told she’s a failure and Haley decides to “help” her out to not actually help Peyton but to continue the music career she gave up. The entire time, however, she’s using it to prop up Lindsey. To get Peyton to think that Lindsey can be another “best friend” in the core 5. Does she take into account that Peyton lost the love of her life? That Peyton was still in love with Lucas? Nope. Again, it was all about Peyton just giving up everything she had dreamed of, hoped for and wanted so that a new random character could get what she wanted. And Haley wasn’t kind about it. She didn’t soften her approach or try to help Peyton through it. Instead it was about judging her, making her feel like the crap on the bottom of her shoe, and about defending Lindsey. When Lindsey made the comments about kicking Peyton’s ass in front of her friends I might add, Haley said nothing and actually laughed along. And when Lindsey made the awful comment about Peyton bleeding for a second time in the library, Haley did not defend her. That’s the biggest issue I have right there. Peyton almost died in that library and it was a disgusting thing to say and Lindsey got away with it. In fact, Haley turned around and defended Lindsey again about the dead dad thing and about how she lost her dad to cancer. Cause you know Peyton could never understand losing a parent to cancer. ….. UMMM, did you conveniently forget about Ellie, Haley? I just really don’t like how hypocritical Haley was written, especially because it was to tear down Peyton and her feelings. And that’s why I don’t like P/H during season 5.
In addition, her reaction to Peyton’s feelings for Lucas are ridiculous considering it’s Peyton’s ex’s new girlfriend. Talk about awkward, but Haley basically took no consideration into Peyton’s feelings about this and instead threw all her support behind Lucas/Lindsey. That’s not to say that she shouldn’t be supporting Lucas. But wasn’t Peyton one of her closest friends? Does she not deserve to have a little bit of empathy? This is where I have the biggest issue. Peyton/Haley’s friendship comes down to Haley. Haley decides when Peyton is worthy of understanding/friendship and withholds it when she gets mad at Peyton. Yelling at Peyton and telling her that she doesn’t have a right to be sad/upset about Lucas choosing another girl, is where Haley lost me in season 5. She come around later and tells Lucas not to mary Lindsey, but it still doesn’t negate that fact that for a whole string of episodes in season 5, she basically made Peyton feel like crap on the bottom of her shoe, because it wasn’t that easy to give up on the love of her life.

In season 6 when Haley calls dibs on godmother, I laughed out loud at the ridiculousness of that. I’m sorry but you ask Brooke to be your number one at 2 of the most important things in your life, forgive her for getting you fired, but treat Peyton like crap multiple times, judge her for something that you aren’t actually a part of, yell at her when she’s going through something heartbreaking, call her a failure multiple times (even a joke that’s not cool) and expect to be the godmother to her kid? NOPE.

I might be alone on this, but I really stopped shipping the Peyton/Haley friendship after season 4 when I realized that they demolished it to prop up Brooke’s character transformation.

The cruelty of 2016

God. This year. UGH. It’s been awful to us. I’m not even going to talk about politics, but man the death. Prince, George Michael, David Bowie, John Glenn, Janet Reno, Florence Henderson, Ali, Gordie Howe, Arnold Palmer and now Carrie Fisher. I’m just gutted.

Star Wars was my foray into popular culture. It’s the series that changed how I viewed film and how I interacted with others. I was super passionate about it. I was a teenager in the late 90s. I lived through the “prequel” coming out. And the flop that it was. But I will always have a soft spot in my heart for that period in middle school when my world was forever changed when I met Leia. I was hooked on a female heroine that was strong, independent, fierce, and didn’t need anyone, especially no man to do anything for her. She found someone who complemented her in Han Solo and didn’t hold her back. In fact SHE ended up rescuing him. I still hold out hope that one day I’ll find someone quick witted, strong, and secure enough to do the same for me.

Thank you Carrie. Thank you for showing me what a strong female heroine in popular culture should look like. You were a giant part of my formative years. Rest in peace, princess. Rest among the stars in a galaxy far, far away. You indeed were a symbol of hope to many future generations of women who longed for better representation in film. You will be missed.

And please 2016. Please don’t take anymore beloved cultural icons.

Thanks,

The Rest of the World

Brooke Davis

I love One Tree Hill. I watch the show on Netflix at least a few times a week.  I’m currently rewatching season 6.  I have many thoughts and feelings on the show. I am currently off of work for a few days and so I did some research. I wanted to know what the general consensus on the Internet was concerning Brooke Davis, or  Brooke Penelope Davis as Jamie calls her, is.

I scoured the internet for messages boards posts from the mid 200os. I read the Brucas threads, I read the Anti-Peyton threads (in which they called her Seyton), and I read the Brooke threads. Overwhelmingly, these threads tended to turn into a hate fest of Leyton and of Peyton, but didn’t actually talk about why they loved Brooke or even why they shipped Brucas. It always came down to preferring Brucas and Booke over Peyton because she kept Brooke/Lucas apart.

It honestly was a super frustrating two days of reading. I am a HUGE fan of One Tree Hill. I adore Peyton, probably more than I adore anyone else on the show. I didn’t care for Brooke in high school much, because she was super immature and shady and at times downright cruel and vindictive. But she grew on me. She matured, she stopped being insecure, and she was an overall great person. It took until season 5 for me to really LOVE her and root for her as a person.

I never once found myself wishing Brooke would die a painful, horrible death or hoping she’d be written off or wanted to leave the show. I’ve been there with characters from other television shows before, but not her. I’ll be honest. I hated Brucas. They did not work as a couple.

In season one when Brooke decides that Lucas is hot and she wants to get with him, she decides she’s going to try to get her best friend Peyton (who Lucas really likes by the way) back together with Nathan. A guy who was horrible to Peyton. He treated her like crap and basically verbally abused her. They were a terrible couple and he constantly cheated on Peyton with anything in a skirt. Peyton finally got up the courage to dump him and here comes Brooke deciding that it’s okay for her to be selfish and to go after the guy who really wants to be there for Peyton and to be with her.

And thus starts the triangle that lasts for five more seasons on the show. Peyton is intrigued by Lucas. He tells her her art matters and it’s what got him to play basketball. He tells her he wants to be with her and have a relationship with her. She gets freaked out, because the only relationship she’s known is with a huge douche. And now his older brother is wanting to be with her too. So she runs away. She makes a mistake.

Meanwhile, Brooke is pressuring Peyton into admitting her true feelings for Lucas. Peyton doesn’t want to be vulnerable like that, so she lies. But deep down, Nathan knows. It’s why he was so angry when he discovers his older brother is in the popular crowd now. Brooke knows it’s why she’s keeping Nathan away from finding true love with Haley, Lucas’s best friend, and why she’s urging Peyton and Nathan to get back together.

This is where Brooke lost me. She pulled an incredibly shady move that literally hurt Peyton, Lucas, Nathan, and Haley. She hurt four people with her selfishness. It left a sour taste in my mouth what she did to Haley and Nathan the most, honestly. I was super into Naley.

And then Peyton got date raped and Brooke ended up making that entire night about her and how upset/sad she was. Lucas fell for it. They ended up going on a date and pretty much sleeping together right away. This was the 2nd strike for Brooke to me, if I’m being honest. Not only do you know your best friend has a thing for Lucas and vice versa, you basically skip multiple levels of standard dating etiquette to bed him. You get him drunk and then you fuck him.

I lost a lot of respect for Brooke here and even more for Lucas. He literally only did that because he was hurt by Peyton rejecting him. She said no, she he went with the next girl who wanted him. She made it all to easy for him to.  I was pretty disgusted by both Lucas/Brooke after that.

When Lucas gets in a car accident not long after she basically makes Keith/Karen comfort her and forces her attention and company on them, even to the point of being a nuisance. When she realizes that Lucas and Peyton still have feelings for each other, despite her constant machinations, she goes off on them.

Listen, getting cheated on is no fun. I’ve been cheated on. But I also didn’t pull the shit Brooke did to get a guy. If I did that and I found out later he cheated on me with the person I knew he liked. I’d be like, “Okay. I probably shouldn’t have interfered and gone after a guy my best friend was into and I knew that.” Brooke brought that on herself. This is where Brucas fans lose me. They claim that Peyton alone is to blame for this whole situation because she didn’t just tell the truth. But refuse to blame Brooke for pulling a super shady, fucked up moved on her supposed best friend. If I found out that my best friend pulled what Brooke did, they wouldn’t even be an acquaintance anymore.

That move was fucked up and led to what happened at the end of season one. I’m not even sorry for saying it. Brooke was a shitty person and a friend to do that to Peyton, Nathan, Lucas, and Haley.

Should Lucas and Peyton have snuck around behind Brooke’s back? No. That wasn’t cool either. I guarantee though that if they had handled it the way Lucas wanted to by just telling Brooke, Brucas fans would still be livid. The fact remains that Brucas was over in season 1 because of a shitty, shady move pulled by their “queen”, Brooke.

Season two Brooke wasn’t nearly as annoying to me, but I really disliked her story with Felix. He was gross, chauvinistic, and clearly not a good person. I also didn’t like how mean she was to Anna in season 2 for no real reason when Peyton became friends with her. Not to mention when she decided to throw a fundraiser only to keep the money for herself so she could buy new clothes. And honestly she wasn’t there for Peyton during season 2 during the drug fiasco or when Felix spray painted her locker. She was busy having sex with a terrible guy and defending him. The thing that really bothered me the most was when she decided it would be appropriate to take naked pictures of Peyton in the shower and post them on the internet. As you recall, it wasn’t long after those pictures made their way to the internet that Peyton’s psycho stalker started contacting her. I honestly blame Brooke for a little of that. People always want to bash Peyton for being a bad friend, and Brooke was as bad.

In season 3, I fucking loathed Brooke. Her friends with benefits, non exculsive thing with Lucas was seriously the most fucking immature thing I’ve ever seen from anyone on the show, including the actual children on the show. She was horrendous and it was painful to sit through her scenes of acting like a 12 year old. I just couldn’t with her. The thing that pushed me firmly on the #teamPeyton boat forever, was when she attacked Lucas for going on a date with Rachel. Brooke had pushed him and pushed him for weeks to just hook up with someone else and when he did, she went full on crazy. Like, bitch, please. You don’t get to tell a highschool boy to go be with someone else, because you don’t want to commit and think he’s going to be, “No. I’m cool with not having sex with anyone until you realize that I’m the one for you.” Grown men wouldn’t do that. And for the record, no man is a mind reader. You’re expecting a high school boy to understand that you want him to run after you and profess his undying love for you? Don’t be a cloyingly annoying bitch to him then. And EVEN when she was being over the top ridiculous with her expectations, Lucas tried to give her what she wanted.

And even when Lucas finally got her to stop being dumb, and they started dating, she was always worried about Peyton, who wasn’t even thinking about that. And then the school shooting happened and she made that about herself to. Her best friend nearly died in the school, her boyfriend went in to rescue her, and her other two best friends were also in there with the shooter. And when Peyton gets to the hospital, guess who doesn’t visit her AT ALL? Brooke. Her supposed best friend, really needed to be there with her boyfriend and his mom 24/7 because Keith died. Really she didn’t, but whatever makes her feel less guilty about basically abandoning her best friend that ALMOST FUCKING DIED.

And then she has this brilliant plan to throw a party in the school where Lucas lost the only father figure he ever had. And SHE gets offended when he doesn’t want to participate. And also a little jealous that Lucas saved Peyton’s life. She was actually upset that the “boy she loves saved the girl he loves.” Like she chose that time to tell Peyton, hey by the way, don’t steal my boyfriend, k?’ Cause you know going through a traumatic school shooting for the person who was shot, takes back seat to your insecurities and whininess.

And then it all falls apart for Brucas, because she realizes she and Lucas have nothing in common, she doesn’t really miss him when they’re apart and their conversations aren’t deep and meaningful. Of course, she blames Peyton for them breaking up, because Peyton tells her she’s actually in love with Lucas and never stopped being in love with him.

And then it bleeds into season 4, where she’s over Lucas, but continues to punish Peyton by telling her she’s gonna steal Lucas back and she can do whatever she wants with Lucas whenever she wants. She makes fun of Peyton’s dead mothers. She calls her names and makes her feel like a shitty friend. The only thing Peyton had the audacity to do was tell her she was in love with Lucas, but wasn’t going to do anything about it. And she didn’t. She kept her word, but being honest with your best friend and vowing to move on and put it behind you makes you a devil, according to Brucas fans. Even in season 4, everything was blamed on Peyton. She was vilified more than Dan. She was bashed, called ugly, anorexic, and made out to be satan himself, all because she did what Brooke had asked to be honest with her.

And then we find out she not only slept with Nathan during the time that Peyton dated him, she slept with him when they were together. This bitch had the audacity to bitch Peyton out for stealing her boyfriend twice, neither time did Peyton sleep with Lucas, by the way, but actually did worse. Like did you just bitch about Peyton for stealing a guy in season 1 that was actually in to her first? Or for the 2nd time when you dumped him because you knew that you weren’t going to last? Because last time I checked Peyton didn’t steal Lucas the 2nd time. You gave him up and shoved him toward her. My favorite part of this is that Brucas fans were sooo upset that Brooke did something wrong with the sex tape that they made petitions to try and make Mark Schwann take it back, because Brooke would never do anything wrong.

Brooke did some really selfish, dumb things over the course of the next season, but by the end of season 4, she was on her way to growing up.

Then comes the adult years. In season 5-9, I ADORE Brooke. She was funny, sweet, caring, and she was a GREAT friend to Haley, Nathan, Peyton, Lucas, Millie, Rachel, Mouth. She grew up. She stopped doing things for selfish reasons. She stopped being so insecure. She knew that she was worthy of love and she wasn’t going to settle to be the footnote in someone else’s love story. Her words.

And so, Brooke Davis is a deeply flawed character. She did some really awful, cruel, and selfish things. Mostly for the wrong reasons. She grew up and did amazing things for the right reasons. I love Brooke Davis. I love her success, I love her journey, and I love her arc. I just didn’t like her for most of her high school years.

Despite how many Brucas fans bash Peyton unnecessarily and refuse to acknowledge any of Brooke’s flaws or shortcomings, I’m not going to take that out on the character of Brooke. She was a very well written character, and I believe I’m better off for having experienced her story.

Up next… Peyton Sawyer, why she’s the best character on the show.

BBOTT and why it sucked but also didn’t.

The title appears to be a bit incongruous, but it’s how I feel. I didn’t hate the format. After about three weeks of voting, I realized that America by and large shouldn’t be allowed to vote for things, even for something silly like BBOTT.  I am not a fan of the care package. I think voting for a nominee and have nots is enough. We don’t need a care package or a vote until finale. I think having that much power skewed a lot of the game and ended up making people insane. The house was split truly or the first time since season 6. Season 6 still goes down as one of my favorites, but it shows me that the Nerd Herd would’ve been America’s favorites that year if we transplanted it and put it in 2016. That’s depressing to me. Janelle, Howie, Kaysar, James would have been hated and treated like crap and lambasted across Twitter. In Season 6 America agreed one one thing, the Nerd Herd sucked. They were sanctimonious, holier than thou cry babies who begged and pleaded for everything.

And this year the Nerd Herd is the Plastics. (I refuse to call them the ballsmashers when they only managed to smash one pair of balls in Scott) took over the roll of Nerd Herd 2.0. With their constant pandering to America, to claiming they were the good, normal people and everyone else on the other side were pieces of crap,  (Shelby and Morgan’s words) to believing they could play the game however they wanted, including breaking multiple deals (Alex) but bitching when the other side did as well, it was hard for me to stomach them, let alone rooting for any of them to win.

On the other hand you had the Misfits who were loud, brash, uncouth, and said pretty much whatever the heck they wanted to at any given moment and didn’t pretend they were the “good, normal” people. They were jerks and they knew it. They knew they were being petty and played it up. They got upset and annoyed and they wondered why America voted against them (some of the time), but ultimately they got over it. They didn’t spend hours begging in the storage room for America to vote their way with the have nots, nominee, or vote. The Plastics did. In fact, it got so bad I refused to watch DRs from Alex while she was in the house, because it was literally all she did. Her only game was to beg America. And she was considered such a great strategist and gameplayer. And nothing she did came close to being good game.

And it boils down to this, the Plastic stans are wannabe social justice warriors (sjw’s). They like to think they’re sticking up for women (because Jason said some bad stuff about Shelby), they want to root for strong, intelligent women to win the game, and they dislike how mean and petty the Misfits were. And then they also liked to tell people, “Oh we’re just rooting for the underdog.” Well, when the plastics won the majority of the care packages and hoh’s, it’s hard to call them underdogs. When confronted with this truth, their true colors showed, “We just don’t like Kryssie. She’s gross. She’s annoying, she burps too much, she whines, she doesn’t play the game.” Or, “Jason is a returning player with a built in fan base.” “Justin is too good at the social game, he doesn’t try hard enough at the other parts of the game.” Yet the entire time they are claiming these things, Shelby, Morgan, Alex, Scott, and Whitney are blasting Danielle. They call her a slut, the make fun of her body when she wears a bikin, they call her a vile troll, they imply she’s a bad mother for having a showmance, for daring to leave her kid to even go on the show. This was pretty much a daily occurence. If I flipped on feeds to the Plastics they were making fun of Dani or some member of the Misfits.  And then I’d flip over to the Misfits and it was usually them talking about sex, Neeley twerking, or doing something stupid. They had fun. They were coarse and rude and had conversations that would make grandmother’s blush.

Jason did say vile things about Shelby, but Shelby also said vile, horrible things about Dani, Justin, Kryssie, and Jason. Morgan said horrific things about Dani, Justin, Jason, and Kryssie. Whitney called Dani a slut multiple times, and Scott said nasty things about Kryssie and Dani.  In my viewing of BBOTT, I saw far more shit talking and cruel talk come from the Plastics in regard to the other side. After BB18 and listening to Michelle and Zakiyah constantly shilt talk the other girls, I wanted nothing to do with the mean girl crap. I’m over it. I’m tired of these girls getting cast and America thinking it’s okay and that it’s just the way the game is played. And I sure as shit do not want to reward anyone 250K for it.

I chose to be Team Misfits after a few weeks on Twitter when I realized the majority of the people supporting the Plastics were as vile and cruel and hypocritcal as the people they were stanning. I particularly recall being told if you like the Misits you are probably not good at being a human being. With the constant derision and attacking and having RHAP, Reddit, and Jokers bashing the Misfits and their supporters nonstop for a full season, I realized that I’d rather support the Misfits, the outcasts, the people that the mainstream want to ridicule and turn their backs on.

This season was ruined for me and by the supposed super fans of the show, who showed they are worse than casuals when it comes to the show. They think by saying, “Oh, it’s just meant to be fun” while tearing down people and calling them dumb, or bad at being human beings, or insulting their intelligence because they want to vote for someone you don’t like or vice versa, it’s okay. It’s not no harm/no foul. Having a split fandom isn’t actually a good thing or a fun thing, especially when people are being insulted by supposedly neutral parties. It’s not okay how a majority of this fandom acted this fall about BBOTT (I’m including myself in this). It’s not okay that people were told by update sites and podcast sites that their opinions didn’t matter and that if they supported one side over another that they were dumb or bad at being human beings.

I honestly hope that they don’t bring back BBOTT2 unless they change it. I want to see old school Big Brother. Get rid of the twists, no returning players, the key wheel back, and good old fashioned strategy with minimal involvement from America. That’s what I want. I don’t want care packages, or a nominee vote, or an eviction vote. And I want people to stop acting like fucking fools about BBOTT. But that ship has sailed.

(And in case you hadn’t got the clue, I’m 100% voting for Jason in the finale. It was gonna be him or Shelby for my vote)

Why BB18 Sucked. BBOTT Thoughts.

I am actually kind of totally glad I didn’t recap BB18 on here this year. The reason being, it sucked. I liked maybe one person when the season was over, which was Tiffany. I hated how everyone treated her in the house, but at some point every other person in the house turned out to be disgusting on a human being level. I’m looking at you Michelle, Paulie, Paul, Nicole, Corey, Bronte, and Zakiyah. Or plain annoying as fuck: James, Natalie, Bridgette, Jozea. Or over dramatic and petty: Frank, Da’Vonne, Victor, Glenn.  That leaves literally, Tifanny. ONE PERSON who wasn’t either atrocious as a person, annoying as fuck, or have a super inflated ego and opinion of themselves. I seriously had a really hard time stomaching most of this season. I hadn’t been watching the shows (other than Thursday live shows)since before season 15 started airing. I tried this year. I really did, but with the scripted DRs and people with the personality of cardboard (Zakiyah), I couldn’t be bothered with it.

I don’t know if I’m getting more mature, but this last season was too much for me with the petty mean girl shit that was being pulled left and right.

Case in point:

Michelle wanting to target Tiffany to the point of her having a mental breakdown (That was Paulie’s plan first, but no one wanted to do it.) James told her he wasn’t interested in doing that and she got in a fight with him for not wanting to be a bad person. From that moment on, I was done with her. If you get pleasure out of trying to mentally break someone especially over a fucking game, you need to be locked up and see a mental health provider. Not to mention how atrocious and downright mean she was to Bridgette over NOTHING. She got mad Frank hung out with Bridgette, but seemed to not get that it was her actions along wit her alliance’s actions that pushed him to her. NOT TO ALSO MENTION THAT FRANK HAD A GIRLFRIEND.  She cried about everything, was horrible to Nicole, because no one wanted to have a showmance with her. I’m sorry, but why are you surprised? You told all the guys how desperate and pathetic you were in college that you invented a fake Facebook boyfriend. NOW you’re surprised no guy wants to start a relationship with a delusional heartless freak like you? SORRY BUT NO. You are as vile and gross as Maggie was in season 6. At least that bitch won.

Paulie is a piece of shit. I loved and still love Cody. I wanted him back in the house with Nicole if I’m being honest, because I think they needed a shot at their own shomance. I’m an unapologetic Nicody supporter. That dream is now dead since Nicole hooked up with Borey. I mean Corey. Paulie however clearly didn’t learn how to treat women in the Big Brother house. Cody did. Cody was great to all the women and made them all feel special. Paulie on the other hand alienated all the women, except for Nicole. Zakiyah went back to him, because she clearly has severe emotional/mental problems, but this dude was gross on a level I really haven’t seen in the house before.

At various points other people were also horrible

Bronte with the racial comments against James

Paul with the racial comments against James as well and calling Michelle who I fucking hate the C word. No girl deserves that, even if they’re horrible.

Davonne/Zakiyah for laughing in Tiffany’s face when she was upset she got nominated. Davonne for whipping Tiffany in the face with her hair (how immature could you be? For an adult woman she sure didn’t act like it much in the house).

Zakiyah for purposely taking Bridgett’es bday cake mix and throwing away her cookies and other baked goods every day and getting mad whenever Paulie ate any of them.

Zakiyah is a whole other issue, but that girl needs severe therapy and help.

Over all, all of that petty shit was so draining and annoying. I’m sick of these people being cast. They are all there to get famous or get recruited and don’t know how to play and spend most of the time being whiny assholes. I can’t stand it.

Leading to BBOTT. The new format is great. I love how America gets a vote. I also hate again how bitchy the plastics are. I particularly hate Whitney, Alex, and Shelby. Morgan seems to be okay and a by product of her horrible sister. I hope Alex goes so that Morgan can shine.

I hated Cornfed and Klan master Monte, the blatant racist. Regardless of what Monte claims he is a racist and a bigot.

I also despise Kryssie. She’s not funny. She’s obnoxious. There’s a huge difference.

Scott is worthless and literally looks like a  rat.

Justin and Jason are the only two I even care about.

So if they both go, so will my interest in this season. I’m not even sorry about it. I long for the days of Arnold Shapiro and seasons like BB3 and BB6 when life was good and Alison Grodner and Robyn Kass weren’t tainting everything with their poisonous touch.

Week 1 Thoughts : BB18

Well, it’s official. Big Brother season 18 is upon us.  Last Wednesday the season premiered and Thursday night the feeds started. I stayed up late, as per usual, to watch the beginning of the feeds. During the premiere episodes, I was definitely turned off by the newbies, and I had hope that Paul and Zakiyah would get off the newbie bandwagon of targeting all the veterans. This was mostly due to the fact, that these newbies have no idea how to play the game. An alliance of all newbies wouldn’t work in this season and I don’t think it would work in any season unless they were superfans or people who had at least seen one full season of Big Brother. (I’m looking at you Jozea, who admitted to only watching Frankie scenes in #BB16).

Thankfully, when feeds came on, Zakiyah had flipped to the vets. Paul, Victor, Jozea, Bronte, Bridgette, and Natalie were the only remaining newbies in their “Revolution” alliance.  Michelle, Paulie, Zakiyah, Corey, and Tiffany aligned with our returning players: James, Davonne, Nicole, and Frank.  I am here for The 8 Pack+Paulie  alliance. Out of everyone in the alliance, I like them all, except for Corey.

Speaking of Corey, on Saturday night in the house, he told a horrific story of trying to set a goat on fire along with his Frat bros. while he was in college at Texas A&M. The story was horrible. The worst part, he told it while laughing and grinning like it was the best thing he’d ever done and told them, “Do you want to hear a funny story?” Paul who was drunk off his ass, was the only to defend the goat and told Corey that it was wrong and mean to set a goat on fire. Twitter exploded, I was furious, and people were shocked and outraged that someone would admit on a national platform that they participated in cruel animal torture and abuse.  That being said, CBS doesn’t care about any of that stuff, so he will stay in the house, continuing to make sexually confusing comments about the other guys, all while flirting with Nicole and talking about his past girlfriends and sexual exploits with girls.

Listen, I have no idea what Corey’s deal is when it come to sexual orientation and frankly, it’s none of our business if he is gay, not gay, or confused. That being said, the amount of DRs already where he talks about how great all the guys’ bodies look is weird. Not to mention the times he’s called other guys like Victor and Paulie sexy. I think CBS is exploiting him in that regard and I think it’s wrong. This leads to me an event that happened on feeds in the first hour they were on. Jozea, Tiffany, and Corey were on the living room couches hanging out. Corey was telling them about a bar he worked at called “The Trophy Room” in Dallas, Texas. He talked about how he got hit on all the time by gay guys who offered him money to go home with them, or tipped him lots of money, or just hit on him. He seemed to be bonding with Jozea and having a good time. Jozea starts joking around that he and Corey are going to be in a showmance called “Cozea” (Tiffany’s name idead). Corey plays along for a bit, until he realizes live feeds are on. He immediately apologizes to family for his behavior. This is when Jozea goes into three other rooms to find the rest of the houseguests to loudly inform them of what happened and how Corey freaked out when he realized feeds were on.  This bothers me a great deal. Corey might be gay, he might just be questioning, or he might be interacting with someone who is gay for the first time in his life and needs some time to process. Instead of being given that, Jozea goes way over the line and continues to press and issue that Corey clearly doesn’t want to be pressed on. This has led to Corey severely disliking Jozea and to the point where Corey has said if Jozea doesn’t leave him alone,(i.e. rubbing on him, getting into bed with him, hitting on him) he’s going to “drop-kick” him. I don’t condone violence at all, but Jozea seems to lack an awareness of what’s going on around him.

Jozea is completely oblivious and delusional though to how comes across to most of the players on the other side of the house. He has dubbed himself the Messiah of the house because he saved the newbies. He believes he’s the glue that holds all the players together. He’s also said things like, “I love everyone, but Nicole, fuck that bitch,” all because Nicole was disrespectful in nominating the only person in the house everyone liked. He’s held at least three house meetings and wants to hold more.  He believes that everyone should run all strategic ideas by him before they do anything. He is ridiculous to a level that even Frankie never achieved.  He has his minions in Paul, Victor, Bronte, Natalie, and Bridgette. He is Devin on cocaine. Devin was terrible at the game and hold some ill advised meetings and started an alliance  of eight people. However, he almost immediately blew up his 8 person alliance, because people didn’t like that he was nominating for personal reasons instead of strategic. Jozea, however, thinks he’s formed an entire house alliance against Nicole, Tiffany, and Paulie. So basically, he thinks he has a 12 person alliance. Jozea’s game play is so delusional and so bad, that I wonder if he was told by production to act like this for more a larger stipend.  He got put on the block because he told Nicole to her face that he wanted her gone, since she already had her chance and blew it. Problem is, Nicole was HoH.

Which leads me to Paul. Paul is basically Jace from last year. Playing WAYYYY to hard, way too fast. The problem with these players is that they are recruits who don’t know quite how the game is played, but are so competitive they have to play the game. They normally end up sinking their own game in the irst week, because of it. Paul is also loud and obnoxious and has said some super rude and mean things about some of the girls in the house.  He ended up being put up by Frank, who won the ROadkill challenge. This sent him into a spiral of “Who hates me,” and “Fuck everyone”. He’s been leading the charge to against Tiffany and Michelle because who knows. He changes his mind daily on who he wants gone.

Then we have Victor. This guy claims to be a fan who has watched past seasons. I do believe him, since he knew some of the past twists and how some of the things worked, but overall, no idea how strategy works in the house. He’s also joined the “Vets out!” group. He’s also been extremely rude to some of the girls. He’s all about the bromances. He went in wanting a showmance, but apparently dumped Natalie before feeds even came on. According to Tiffany and Zakiyah, Nicole was changing into a bathing suit and said, “What kind should I wear?” Victor replied, “A one-piece to cover up your awful body.” They also said he hoards food, tells some of the girls they shouldn’t eat certain foods because it has too much fat, and when they got alcohol on Friday night, they only had 2 bottles of wine. Nicole got her bottle of win from her HoH basket and decided to join them. Victor took her bottle, gave her a tiny  glass and then took her bottle of wine to drink for himself. This really bothered Tiffany and Zakiyah who decided they’d take a bottle of wine the next time they got one to replace the one Victor stole from Nicole. The next night they got alcohol again and they took the bottle. Victor threw a fucking fit and told Nicole, “If the house gets wine, it’s not your right to take it. Don’t be greedy.” This has not settled well for the girls who despise him. He has a terrible social game so far. I don’t see him lasting long as he’s pissed off everyone on the other side of the house.

In the middle of the house, we have Natalie, Bronte, and Bridgette. They call themselves the “Spy Girls”. This alliance is definitely not made up of Mensa members. Bronte is the worst offender of these girls. Bronte is 100% against the vets. She hates Nicole apparently for being dumb and going against “what the house wants”. She’s used the “We’re good people” defense as to why she wants to get rid of the others. She would have fit in perfectly in #bb6. She legit doesn’t know how to play  this game and her strategy at the beginning of the season has not been seen once. She’s pulled some really stupid shit in the house already as well.  With Paulie in the block, she’s gone around and made fun of him and told him to his face she can’t wait for him to watch from home and that he’s an embarrassment to his brother. She also hates Michelle, Tiffany for being shady. She constantly tells anyone who listens that if they vote against what the house wants they’re going home. Little does she know, she’s doing that exact same thing.

Bridgette came in looking like a fish out of water who didn’t belong. That being said since feeds came on she’s proven herself to be a rat floater. When Jozea held his first house meeting to basically call himself the Messiah again and tell everyone that he’s staying no matter what. She claims she has to go to the bathroom and goes upstairs (really she’s been spent to spy on the vets). She goes up and tells Frank, who is her team leader that she doesn’t want to vote with them against her own teammate. The vets pump her up and tell her to vote how she wants to and that it’s okay to break away from that group. After the meeting breaks up, she immediately goes downstairs to Jozea and throws Nicole under the bus and tells lies about what she said in the room. Unfortunately for Bridgette, Nicole went downstairs herself after the meeting and asked James (who barged his way into the meeting) if the meeting was over. Natalie was sitting there and asked her how she knew about the meeting. Nicole told her the truth that Bridgette told her. Natalie flipped out and told Jozea. Jozea, Paul, and Victor immediately went into panic mode, for Lord knows what reason. Paul and Victor go to Nicole and throw Bridgette under the bus and tell Nicole that it was Bridgette’s idea to go up to her to get more information to take back to them. They tell Nicole everything Bridgette said and did when she went downstairs. Bridgette is now disliked and distrusted by pretty much both sides. She will not last in this game. I honestly have no idea what she was thinking, but she blew up her own game.

Natalie, however, is a ray of cuteness and sunshine. She doesn’t speak ill of anyone. She is aligned with the Revolution alliance, but I think that’s because she liked Victor a lot and that’s who she’s spent most of her time with. She’s also close to Bronte and Bridgette who hate the vets and want them gone. She has a natural social game because she’s so likable. In the past few days, she’s gotten really close to James and Tiffany has made an effort to talk to her and hang out with her as well. I think Natalie is in the best position of all the newbies because she hasn’t pissed anyone off from the 8 pack +Paulie alliance. I think her downfall is that people hate Victor and will automatically put her up beside him. She has potential however.

Zakiyah is in the 8 Pack+ Paulie alliance. She’s a newbie who is a true superfan. That automatically makes her more tolerable than half the newbies. She is super close to Nicole and Davonne, which helps her as well. That being said, I have some major issues with her game. She is in LOVE with Paulie. It’s pretty obvious. She literally follows him around the house and sits in his lap, plays with his hair, inserts herself into conversations he’s having with other people, and in general looking thirsty as fuck. Now, I have nothing against showmances, but in this case, she’s reminding me of Jessie with Nick in season 15. It’s over the top. It would be different if Paulie was the one initiating even half of these interactions, but he’s not. In fact, I’ve seen him initiation one conversation with her and I’ve been watching feeds for pretty much 4 days nonstop. However, he actively initiates conversations with Nicole and Tiffany. None of these conversations are romantic, however. He simply hangs out with them and talks either game related, or just life related. He doesn’t even talk game to Zakiyah. She’s noticed this, which is why she HATES Tiffany. Davonne naturally distrusts Tiffany, because she looks so much like Vanessa, and Vanessa had a hand in her going home. Zakiyah took this opportunity to attack Tiffany and make her look like a pathetic freak for pursuing Paulie. She’s gone to multiple people on the other side and planted seeds about Tiffany being untrustworthy because of the Paulie thing. However, she’s not aware enough to realize that both Tiffany and Paule are distrusted now. The major problem is Tiffany is in multiple alliances with her and if she finds out what Zakiyah’s been doing  she’s toast. I had high hopes for Zakiyah. I liked her, but I do not like the petty, vindictive shit because someone you’re crushing on prefers to talk game to someone else. You’re not here for a showmance, you’re here to win 500k. I really hope she calms down when it comes to Paulie and plays the game logically.

Michelle is another newbie superfan. Nicole, Tiffany, and Frank really like her. She’s in the 8 Pack+Paulie alliance, for numbers reasons. However, she doesn’t like or trust Paulie and rarely interacts with James, Zakiyah, or Davonne. Out of everyone in the alliance, I think she’s at the bottom  because she only talks to 3 people in the alliance consistently. She’s also severely disliked on the other side of the house. I don’t think she’s going to be c omp beast and her social game is not great, so she might be an early eviction.

Paulie

Paulie is as adorable as Cody was in season 16. Hes super nice and seems pretty chill. The girls flirt with him, some more than others, but he talks game to Tiffany, Nicole, and Frank. He wasn’t added into the 8 pack alliance, but that’s because he was on the block and not in the room. If he stays Thursday, which I think he will, I think Frank and Nicole’s teams will align and he’ll be in a pretty good spot moving forward. He gets along really well with Tiffany and Nicole for the females and Corey and Frank for the males, so that pairing would be perfect for him. I am definitely rooting for him moving forward.

Tiffany

I love Tiffany. She’s way more mellow than Vanessa, so far at least. She’s had a few things where she freaked out, but that’s because Zakiyah and Day are fucking with her and telling her things that will make her go crazy. If she remains calm and stays loyal to Nicole, Frank, Paulie, I thinks he’ll do okay. Day/Zakiyah may be the downfall of her game though.

Davonne

I had high hopes for her coming back. She teamed up with the vets, siblings, and newbies who are smart. However, she’s starting to turn paranoid like she did in BB17 and not trusting her alliance members. She’s already started to speak out againt Tiffany and has purposely and deliberately tried to fuck with her to make her mad. I am about the Fatal Five, so if Day continues to target one of her own, I’m going to drop her to the bottom of my list.

James

James is literally doing nothing but flirting with Natalie, having a crush on Nicole, and playing pranks on Frank. He talks game only to his alliance, and has as much fun as possible. However, the other side seem to think HE’S the mastermind, which is weird, but hwatever. As lon as he can bust out some comps wins, he could make it far again. He has a great social game again already.

Nicole

Nicole is my girl. I LOVE her. I loved her in BB16 and I love her now. I am for whatever alliance she is in and whatever alliance she wants to start. he is loyal to a fault, and is starting to play a bit more strategically this time around. I love her all girls alliance in Fatal Five, but Day and Zakiyah are going to be the destruction of that and I hope Nicole realizes that. She’d do better to team up with Paulie/Frank and Tiffany and have a solid 4 person alliance with Corey and Michelle added in. Davonne and Zakiyah are loose cannons and play with too much emotion.

Frank

Frank the Tank is a beast. I think he is in a great spot. Of the vets, he’s talked about the least as a problem. His social game is on point this year and has made friends with pretty much everyone. I think if he sticks with Nicole/James he’ll do great.

Here is my ranking of worst to best players based on social, strategic and competitve play
